"In the first quarter of 2023, China's textile and garment foreign trade enterprises are facing severe challenges." Zhu Yuxing, director of the Information Department of the China Textile Import and Export Chamber of Commerce, said. "Affected by the tightening monetary policy in Europe and the United States, overseas demand has contracted sharply, while the transfer of orders from the United States and the European Union outside China has accelerated."
Last year, China's textile and garment exports showed a significant trend of high before and low after. In the first quarter, exports grew 11.2 per cent year-on-year; in the second quarter, exports grew 12.3 per cent, a new high for the year; in the third quarter, growth slowed significantly to 5.6 per cent; and in the fourth quarter, it fell faster, down 14.8 per cent year-on-year. This also indicates that textile and garment exports will face greater downward pressure in the first quarter and the first half of this year. In the face of difficulties, what should China's textile and garment export enterprises do? Many textile enterprises said that they should make full efforts to innovate products, seize the market, seize the opportunity, and strive to achieve the export "recovery year" and "order year".
